“Dazzling”. “Scintillating”. “Beautifully offbeat”. That’s just some of the praise Paris-based author Adam Biles soaked up for his début novel “Feeding Time”, which was published in 2016. The book, a dark but funny story about a rebellion in a miserable, mismanaged elderly care home, was recently translated into French under the title “Défense de Nourrir les Vieux” (“Do not feed the old people”).
The British writer, who also works at iconic Left Bank bookstore Shakespeare & Co, talks to Richelle Harrison Plesse about injecting humour into the characters’ grim circumstances and celebrating senior citizens who still have “fire in their bellies”.
